Handling of Abnormal Waveform Distortion in Ultra-Low Frequency High-Voltage Generator Output

Ultra-low frequency high-voltage generator is mainly used for insulation withstand voltage tests of high-voltage power equipment. It has the characteristics of fast voltage boosting, high voltage level, and light weight. It is mainly designed and manufactured for electrical withstand voltage tests of all main electrical equipment such as 10kV, 35kV, 300MW thermal power generators, 10kV, 35kV power transformers and lines, and has been widely welcomed by electric power workers.

It integrates the technical advantages of foreign ultra-low frequency and innovatively adopts modern digital frequency conversion technology. Using microcomputer optoelectronic control, voltage boosting, step-down, measurement, and protection are fully automated, and manual intervention is possible during the automatic voltage boosting process. Due to full electronization, it is small in size and light in weight. The intelligent true-color human-machine interface operating system is clear and intuitive, with powerful functions that can display the output waveform in real time during the test. It also comes with a printer that can print out the test report immediately, and a plug-and-play USB download port that can download test data to a computer in real time to achieve remote data storage and printing functions.

But during the voltage boosting and withstand voltage process, if abnormal waveform distortion is found in the output, and the current increases abnormally, the voltage is unstable, and the test cable has odor, smoke, abnormal sound, or flashover, etc., the voltage boosting should be stopped immediately, and the cause should be investigated after shutdown. If these phenomena are caused by weak insulation parts of the test cable, the withstand voltage test is considered unqualified. If it is determined that the test cable is caused by air humidity or surface dirt, the test cable should be cleaned and dried before testing again.

During the test, if the instrument triggers overcurrent protection due to non-insulation defects of the test cable, after identifying the cause, the full-time connection withstand voltage test should be re-conducted. It is not allowed to only perform a "supplementary time" test.

The usage methods of ultra-low frequency high-voltage generators produced by different manufacturers are similar, but electric power workers still need to read the product instruction manual carefully before use, and strictly follow the requirements of the manual to conduct tests, in order to achieve the instrument's testing accuracy and effect.
