Calibration Steps and Precautions for Melting Point Tester

Precautions for using the melting point meter

1. The sample must be dried as required and crushed in a dry and clean rolling body. The sample should be filled into the sample tube by free fall. The filling height should be consistent, and the specific requirements should comply with the pharmacopoeia regulations.

2. When inserting and removing capillary tubes, care must be taken to avoid breakage.

3. Different linear heating rates result in inconsistent greenhouse effects.

4. Fill the sample into five capillary tubes, and in the measurement results, take the average of the middle three readings separately to eliminate accidental errors caused by capillary tubes and sample preparation.

5. Before inserting the capillary tube into the instrument, use a soft cloth to remove contaminants from the outside to prevent the oil bath from becoming dirty.

6. If the oil bath tube needs to be replaced, use the method described in the preparation work before use.

Calibration steps for the melting point tester

1. Place the sample in a porcelain mortar and gently grind it into a fine powder to obtain a uniform sample.

2. Take one or more clean and dry melting point tubes, insert the open end into the sample, and load it with the sample.

3. Stand a dry glass tube about 0.8 meters long on a glass plate, and throw the melting point tube containing the sample at least 20 times to tighten the sample in the melting point tube to a height of 3-4mm. If two samples are measured simultaneously, the height of the samples should be consistent to ensure consistency of measurement results.

4. For samples that are easily decomposed or dehydrated, the other end of the melting point tube should be melted and sealed.
