Field Test Operating Procedures for Variable Frequency Series Resonance Test Device

1. When unpacking, the test personnel should check the equipment against the packing list. If any discrepancy is found, please contact our company immediately.

2. This test equipment should be used by professional high-voltage test personnel. Before use, read the instruction manual carefully and undergo repeated operational training.

3. The test personnel should be at least two people. During use, strictly comply with the safety operating procedures for high-voltage tests of your unit.

4. To ensure the safety and correctness of the test, besides being familiar with this product manual, you must strictly follow national standards and procedures for test operations.

5. All connecting wires must not be connected incorrectly. The wiring must be done according to the circuit diagram in the "Precautions" section; otherwise, the test device may be damaged.

6. When this device is in use, it outputs high or ultra-high voltage. It must be reliably grounded, and attention should be paid to operational safety.

7. Before testing the test object, perform a no-load voltage rise test on the equipment with a test voltage of 80% of the equipment's rated voltage.

8. Whether conducting a test on the test object or a no-load voltage rise test, the lower reactor must be isolated from the ground using an insulating support.

9. During the test, the distance between the variable frequency power supply and the reactor should be as large as possible (to avoid safety accidents).

10. The variable frequency power supply part of this set is in the form of a touch screen. When operating, press lightly and slowly (with a 0.5-second interval between entering the next menu). If pressed too hard or too fast, it may fail to enter the next menu or the machine may not start. Press the reset key once, then return to the main menu, wait 5 seconds before starting again, or directly turn off the power and restart.

11. When setting parameters for the equipment, the "Device Voltage" field must not be changed. The "Device Voltage" is set in conjunction with the voltage divider during factory testing. If the "Device Voltage" is changed, the sampling signal of the voltage divider will change, and the measured voltage will not be the true test voltage; it may be higher or lower. This will affect the withstand voltage test of the test object. Therefore, test personnel should record the "Device Voltage" when starting up, so that it can be referenced if the device voltage is accidentally changed.

12. When testing objects with relatively large capacitance or high losses, such as "generators, large-capacity motors, cables longer than 1.5km", the system Q value is low. Set the "Output Voltage" between 30V and 50V. Under normal circumstances, set the "Output Voltage" between 10V and 20V. When testing cables below 10kV and within 500m in length, choose a lower excitation voltage and set the "Output Voltage" to 10V. Otherwise, when searching for the resonance point, the test voltage may exceed the rated withstand voltage of the test object, and the system Q value is high, which can easily cause breakdown of the test object.

13. Common fault causes and troubleshooting.

13.1 During the no-load voltage rise test, the resonance point was not found.

Fault Cause Troubleshooting Method
The variable frequency power supply is not started Disconnect the output of the variable frequency power supply, then restart. Listen for any sound from the variable frequency power supply, check if there is airflow from the vents, and check if there is voltage at the output.
The signal line of the capacitive voltage divider is open or short-circuited Use a multimeter to measure the continuity of the voltage divider signal line
Poor contact in the entire device wiring Check if the entire device wiring is in good condition
The grounding wire is not secure Check if the grounding is good
The excitation transformer is open-circuited Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the low-voltage winding and the high-voltage winding of the excitation transformer
The reactor is open-circuited Measure the DC resistance of the reactor
