Based on the collected temperature changes, the computer sends commands through the I/O port to control the heater, causing the test oil temperature to rise at a certain rate. It performs automatic control of scanning cycle, ignition time, differential detection, and implementation. When flash fire is detected, the computer system stops data collection, displays the flash temperature, and prints the recorded results. It stops heating, extinguishes the flame, and starts forced air cooling.
Under the conditions specified by national standards, the instrument loads the sample into the test cup and heats the cup containing the test oil. The lowest temperature at which the mixed gas formed by petroleum vapor and surrounding air flashes upon contact with the flame is taken as the flash point.
